Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

Here are some images of a Razorback/Rhino.

The main rear weapons are interchangeable and also the Rhino doors available to replace the weapon for Rhino application.

The interior has been detailed. No Grey Knight transfers were in the GW boxes and therefore the tanks do not have any on them. There are 4 of these all for the project for ML of the UK.

All this Grey Knights army are in a GW tournament on 10th & 11th December 2011 (I'm guessing somewhere in Nottinghamshire).

Here are the last of the Timurid/Tajic range of miniatures from AA of the UK.

2 of the images are the Dismounted armoured cavalrymen.

Next up is a single miniature for TW of the USA, a fantastic 28mm sculpt from the guys at Sphere Wars. The basing has been done with green stuff and we sculpted broken slabs and painted as a mossy finish.

It's been a while since we updated, due to a full workbench.

Apologies for those of you who waited for the last Black Templar images.... Scouts etc, but we posted them to the customer and forgot to photograph them!!

We have finished a project for AA from the UK - Tajic Archers and Timurid dismounted armoured cavalrymen. These miniatures are from the Gripping Beast range of 28mm historical figures.

First set of images are those of the Tajic Archers.

Note: The basing on the miniatures are not done at the request of the customer.

Studio News

Hi Battle Colours Fans!

Well, it's been a while and many things have been happening with the studio of which some things have taken over the actual painting of some projects.

We are now happy to say that the last month has been hectic with finishing older customer projects and taking in new customer projects, and we thank all previous, current and future customers for their patience and support.

Recently finished, was the Black Templar Army from SH of the UK who is also now looking at joining our local wargaming club... Dumbarton Wargames Club in the UK.

The next few blogs will cover his army and show the various images of the painted miniatures.

Moving on.... we have the long awaited images coming of the Ultramarine Battle Force box project for LR of the USA.... (yes Larry, we are still here and getting your miniatures ready to ship).

Other exciting projects are a Flames of War project for CR of the UK. 37 product box codes for an armored German Army (WW2), a Timuric/Tajic force for AA of the UK, Dark Eldar & Grey Knights armies for a tournament in December 2011 for ML of the UK, plus finishing off some older projects.

The studio is expanding and has taken on another miniature artist and because of this, we are now available for modelling & painting more armies. Conversions are a future offering, and our magnetization of models is fully underway.

One of our customers, CR from the UK had us carry out the painting of his two Flames of War box sets, namely a Panther A Platoon (5 tanks) and Panzer IV H Platoon (5 tanks).

The project is now complete and think you will like the images here and the next couple of blogs.

Images on this blog are of German Panthers.

Vallejo Model Colour and Panzer Aces acrylic paints were used extensively.

Well at long last, the Empire Army project is finished and ready to ship off

to the USA.

It has taken longer than anticipated but an enjoyable project to do.

We feel the overall look of the army, with regiments on their 'studio made'

movement trays is pleasing to say the least.

We hope CC of the USA is happy with his army and has many hours of

gaming with it.

We have been getting to finish off quite a few customer projects over the last few months

that they correspond with.

The images here are of one regiment of Empire Army Knightly Orders belonging to CC of
the USA. The following blog will be images of the second regiment which includes musician,
standard bearer and officer.

The Empire Army project has been our largest so far.... 2 battalion boxes, 2 cavalry boxes,
2 infantry boxes, wizards, 1 artillery piece, 2 characters and more, all of which will have

Here are the images from DH of the UK.
British 'Red Devils' Paratroopers from the fantastic Bolt Action World War 2 28mm range.

DH had previously sent a few of these last year and praised our work, which we appreciate.
These images are for his first full unit and has asked that we paint up a unit of WW2 German
Infantry, again, Bolt Action Miniatures. This is to be confirmed, but we look forward to doing
the project.

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

Finally completed a set of 20mm Afghan Militia for JH of the UK.
These finely detailed miniatures are from the modern wars in Afghanistan
manufactured by Britannia Miniatures.
The images show a cross section of the completed project.

To compliment these, will be British Paratroopers from the same period, and
will be completed shortly.

Next up are some images of World War 2 British 'Red Devil' Paratroopers
for DH of the UK.

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

Here are a few images of some Revel 1/72nd plastic horses from the Royal Horse Guards box set
sent to us by AC of Croatia.

A total of 34 horses have been completed and as requested, the bases are finished in a Goblin Green.
The miniatures will not be used for wargaming, hence the plain bases.

The riders are being worked on and images will appear as soon as we have some for you.

The side weapons are a good tight manual fit however the main guns (3) have been magnetised.

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

At last, the Samurai 42mm miniatures are finished for LR of the USA.
Here are 3 images from the set of 6 miniatures.

LR didn't want them basing hence plain brown on the integral base.

We had noticed some black on the spears had been scraped when adding
them to the miniatures through their hands.
This was rectified after the photo shoot.

A whole host of images coming soon, as we have quite a few projects
coming to a close, of which our current customers will be happy to hear.

Hi Battle Colours Fans!

As promised, here are a couple of images from the ongoing
project for JK of the UK.

The Terminators are from the Space Hulk box game, hence the
bases are just flat. That how they are! They will be black
and drybrushed

A few finishing touches along with the 22 Genestealers and
they will be shipped out.
The Genestealers are finished except for the bases.
The bases on the Genestealers are more elaborate with girders,
pipes, skulls etc etc.

Finished images of these and the Blood Angels from the previous
blog entry will appear in our web album, available through the
Gallery page on the website.

Lord Brooke's Regiment for DJ

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!
A few pics of one of the English Civil War regiments sent to us
by DJ of the UK.
This project has taken some time and almost finished.

As the title says, these pictures depict Lord Brooke's Regiment
who wore a distinctive purple 'uniform'.
2 miniatures are out of the pictures... these are the standard bearers.
Our good customer DJ is adding flags when he gets his project back, completed.

First pic shows a white undercoat followed by a red ink wash.

Second pic shows the addition of a wash with Baal Red followed by
a wash of Badab Black inside each section of the wings and over all
other red on the miniatures' body.

Problems solved.... new website format, same looking pages, same website address!

Hi Battle Colours Fans!

We are currently starting the finishing stages of a few of our customer projects as they are becoming lengthy in time.

Part of this is due to the new business planning of a retail store.
The plan is to open a retail store in Dumbarton, Scotland real soon, under the name of Wargames + Miniatures.
The webstore is online now, with products and manufacturers being added week by week.

Magnetisation!!!!!

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

A quick snippet of news regarding magnetisation, to coincide with the same news on the website.

Magnetisation is now available for vehicle upgrades, such as Warhammer 40k tanks, sentinals etc.

The pictures are of a partly finished Sentinal from JK of the UK.
First picture shows the weapon (multi-laser) in position and the second shows the weapon off and the magnet placings.

All magnets will be painted to correspond with the vehicle colours so that they blend in.

So now, the option of interchangeable weapons is available from us.

Hi Battle Colours fans!!

Customers who have projects with us, will know of slight delays and an upcoming closed week at the studio through our Newsletter system.

Quote from our News section on the website:
Due to a funeral in the family, the studio will be close for 1 week start Monday 19th October 2009 and reopens Monday 26th October 2009 due to being 400+ miles away. We would like to apologise for this inconvenience.
All emails will be checked however from another PC.'

Website Changes: We have introduced a visual indicator showing '% completed' of the customer projects being worked on, and hope that this will help customers gauge how far we are, on completing their projects.

Special Deals:
During the coming months, there will be some Special Deals on some new/sealed boxes of miniatures from our stock. They will priced at a discount and can be purchased as is or painted by us upon purchase. Added to this from time to time, will be discounts on painting prices!!

Hi Battle Colours fans!!!

We have recently teamed up with the wonderful Tor Gaming company with a view to allowing you a chance to obtain miniatures for two fantastic fantasy skirmish games - painted!!.

The first will be the very new Sphere Wars miniatures.

This game is in it's infancy and we shall be able to give you the opportunity to purchase the miniatures painted by us here in the studio.

We will be able to order miniatures for you or you can simply head to www.torgaming.co.uk and have them sent directly to us for painting.

The second being the renowned Alkemy gaming miniatures from Kraken, again available through Tor Gaming or through us, and we will be offering these superb miniatures painted!

Just a note... we will not sell miniatures unpainted from these ranges.

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

This is just a quick update before the big update.

Due to various holidays, the blog has not been updated and so just to let you all know, we are all alive and kicking.

We are also in the process of a bigger studio as we have outgrown our current studio.... thanks to all of you, who continue to support us by way of your projects and commission work.

Thank you all!!

There are some exciting development coming up throughout this year and also the finishing up of various customer projects.... TS of USA, DW of UK, TP of UK, SC of UK, DJ of UK, JD of UK, JA of USA, JH of UK, JL of USA, LR of USA, YE of Sweden, CC of USA, DH of UK to name a few.

The next blog ..... aimed at the end of this week, will be a bumper issue of pictures of items being worked on, either finished or in progress.

Apologies for delays due to holidays and the studio refit over the following 2 weeks.

By the way.... the studio move and refit will not result in a stop of project work.

A smooth transition is anticipated.... all being well!!

Samurai's coming along.......

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

It's another report on the continuing Samurai miniatures from LR of the USA....

The miniatures got 2 coats of GW Black Ink on the breast plates and lower armoured

clothing. Following this, the 'head scarves' got a coat of Citadel Tausept Ochre and then a highlight of Citadel Ivanden Darksun.

The main suit was given 3 washes of GW Asurmen Blue giving enough depth in the creases and allowing the light undercoat to show through on the raised areas.

The grey areas are still to be worked on... for the next report.

Also in the next report will be the Earl Of Manchester ECW regiment painting sequence.

I know I keep saying that, but I promise it will be here next time, along with a picture.

During the last fortnight, work has also been carried out on all our other customers projects and we will be reporting on their progression along the way.

2 new customer projects are booked in and at this point, we are still waiting for the miniatures to arrive... 28mm Gladiators from Crusader Miniatures for JE of Sweden and British Paratroopers 28mm Bolt Action Miniatures for DH of UK.

Work on those will start as soon as the miniatures arrive.

So, lot's of projects on the go and pending!!

We still have a few slots for August and look forward to any enquiries.

Problem resolved with blog.....

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!!!

The blog page was experiencing a problem but has now been solved.

So, what has been going on at the Battle Colours studio..... well all customer projects have had work done on them and as far as the ongoing series on the English Civil War painting for DJ Of UK, that will continue on the next blog - scheduled for Friday 26th June.

This includes the further paintwork to footwear, straps and belts .... browns!!

Up this week is the start of a series showing the Samurai from LR of USA.

The picture above (click picture to enlarge), shows the stage they are at and so far they received our usual GW Black spray undercoat, followed by a this overspray of GW White undercoat, again to show the fine detail.

Next up was the skin.... GW Bronzed Flesh followed by a this wash of GW Flesh Wash and then highlighted with Vallejo Light Flesh Tone.

Finally for this session, the majority of the miniatures then received a coat of Citadel Badab Black Wash ready for the armour painting stage, which will be the next issue concerning these Samurai.

More ECW, more projects....

Hi Battle Colours Fans!!

As you can see from the picture above, the ongoing customer project from DJ in the UK, the Earl of Manchester regiment painting series has moved to the next stage... the breeches!

Historically these were green as was the inner lining of the jacket, of which the most green seen on the jacket, is the sleeve cuff turnbacks.

We started with a coat of GW Orkhide Shade followed by a wash of GW Thraka Green.

To highlight, we hit the raised areas with a watered down GW Knarloc Green.

Just a note to point out to everyone.... my personal preference for painting is a 'battle finish', rather than bright, clean uniforms (parade) style, unless required by the customer.

Next time we will be looking at the footwear, belts and straps in this project.

All other customer projects are coming along nicely and just in, are some nice 42mm Samurai from LR in the USA. These will be collector pieces and hopefully we can capture their paintwork along the way here on the blog.

Another hectic weekend...

Hi Battle Colours fans!

Nearly another week gone by and not much to show for the work, however, customer projects being attanded to as always, as well as working on a few deals for you.

Carrying on from the previous blog showing the ongoing English Civil War miniatures from DJ in the UK, the picture above shows the next stage.

The jackets got a wash of GW Baal Red, followed by a thin coat of GW Red Gore and completed with a wash of GW Badab Black to fall into the natural creases of the cloth and shadows. The picture can be enlarged by clicking on it for more detail.

Again, there are 30 miniatures in the regiment but we will be showing the same 6 miniatures throughout the sequence.

We have some special offers coming up in the next week or two.... possibly GW Dark Elf Black Ark Corsairs regiment, GW Space Marine Combat Squad, Warlord Games Roman Legionaries.

These will have a special offer price that includes discounted miniatures and painting by us, so keep watching the blog!!

Hi Battle Colours Fans!

Where does time go? It's June 2009 already!

I was unhappy with the design I painted on JD's Skaven Standard Bearers' standard, so that is getting a new start over this week, so with luck that will be finished next week at the latest. Picture will appear here and the gallery in the website.

The Warmaster Black Orc units MUST be finished this week, so that we can progress with our fortnightly unit turnaround of the rest of DW's Orc/Goblin Army.

DJ's English Civil War Parliamentarian Army is underway. Four regiments of 30 Bicorne Miniatures 28mm metal, along with two personalities, mounted.

These miniatures are a delight to work with, fantastic detail and well worth looking at if you are contemplating buying ECW 28mm's.

The Earl of Manchester's Regiment is now underway and we are using it as regular blog spot showing it's progression (pikes added later).

As you will have seen, the picture above shows 6 of the regiment.

GW black undercoated, then GW white light undercoat overspray which really shows up the detail ready to paint. The faces are a coat of GW Bronzed flesh, followed by a GW flesh wash and then a fine drybrush of GW bleached bone.

The hands are at a later stage.

Based on Warbases 20mm x 20mm x 2mm mdf bases, and have a layer of filler (first stage of our basing).

Watch out for the next installment in the following few days on this project!

The 'studio' ECW project is on hold due to customer projects, which will always come first.
